The Prehistoric Period
The prehistoric period takes place from approximately 5000 BCE between the between the early stages of the 18th century CE.
During this period the population was dependent on hunters, and agricultural skills, in order to get their main food source. Agriculture is of course very dependent on the weather and climate. Due to this, houses were designed to have pits, which were used to collect rain water from the grass roofs.
Also during this time, which was specifically the Yayoi period, Japan and China started to talk more, and from this the knowledge and technical skills towards architecture from the Han dynasty started to influence the Japanese.
Due to the lack of tools and materials at the time, most houses were very small and made our of very poor material, however this contributed a lot to the plant growth, and the house had many ways of saving “energy” and the environment.
